INTRODUCTION
From the creation of humanity to the final Messenger, Allah (SWT) sent prophets to every nation to guide people toward worshipping Him alone. The Quran mentions 25 prophets by name, each with a unique mission, remarkable challenges, and valuable lessons that continue to inspire Muslims today.
These prophets demonstrated unwavering faith, patience, courage, and trust in Allah, even when facing rejection, hardship, and persecution. Their stories are not merely historical accounts; they are timeless reminders that strengthen our faith and teach us how to live according to Allah's guidance.
In this first part of our series, we will explore the stories of the first five prophets mentioned in the Quran and discover the lessons their lives teach us.
25. Prophet Adam (AS) – The First Human and First Prophet
Allah (SWT) created Prophet Adam (AS) from clay and honored him by breathing into him from His spirit. He became the first human being and the first prophet sent to guide mankind.
Allah taught Adam the names of all things, demonstrating his knowledge above the angels. When Allah commanded the angels to bow to Adam as a sign of respect, they all obeyed except Iblis, who refused out of arrogance. His pride led to his expulsion and made him the enemy of mankind.
Adam (AS) and his wife Hawwa (Eve) lived in Paradise but were instructed not to approach a certain tree. After being deceived by Satan, they ate from it and were sent to Earth. However, they sincerely repented, and Allah accepted their repentance, showing His infinite mercy.
Lessons from Adam (AS)
Allah is the Most Merciful and accepts sincere repentance.
Pride and arrogance can lead to destruction.
Every human being makes mistakes, but believers should always turn back to Allah.
24. Prophet Idris (AS) – The Truthful Servant
Prophet Idris (AS) was known for his honesty, wisdom, and devotion to Allah. The Quran praises him as a truthful prophet whom Allah raised to a high station.
Islamic tradition describes Idris (AS) as someone who valued knowledge and hard work. He encouraged people to worship Allah alone and live righteous lives.
Although the Quran provides limited details about his life, his mention reminds believers of the importance of sincerity and dedication.
Lessons from Idris (AS)
Always speak the truth.
Seek beneficial knowledge
Worship Allah with sincerity
23. Prophet Nuh (Noah) (AS) – The Prophet of Patience
Prophet Nuh (AS) was sent to people who had turned away from Allah and begun worshipping idols. For approximately 950 years, he patiently invited them to worship Allah alone.
Despite his tireless efforts, only a small number accepted his message. Most mocked him and rejected his warnings.
Allah then commanded Nuh (AS) to build a massive ark. Although people laughed at him, he obeyed Allah without hesitation. When the flood came, the believers and pairs of animals were saved aboard the ark, while those who rejected Allah's message perished.
One of the most emotional moments in the story is when Nuh's own son refused to believe and was swept away by the flood, reminding us that faith—not family ties—is what brings salvation.
Lessons from Nuh (AS)
Never give up in calling people toward goodness.
Obedience to Allah always brings success.
Patience is one of the greatest qualities of a believer.
22. Prophet Hud (AS) – The Messenger to the People of 'Ad
Allah sent Prophet Hud (AS) to the powerful tribe of 'Ad, who lived among magnificent buildings and enjoyed great wealth.
Instead of thanking Allah, they became proud and arrogant. They worshipped idols and believed their strength made them invincible.
Hud (AS) repeatedly urged them to abandon idol worship and return to Allah, but they rejected his message and mocked him.
As a result, Allah sent a fierce wind that lasted for several days, destroying the mighty nation while saving Hud (AS) and the believers.
Lessons from Hud (AS)
Wealth and power cannot protect anyone from Allah's judgment.
Pride blinds people from accepting the truth.
True strength comes through obedience to Allah.
21. Prophet Salih (AS) – The Miracle of the She-Camel
Prophet Salih (AS) was sent to the people of Thamud, a civilization famous for carving beautiful homes into mountains.
When they demanded proof of his prophethood, Allah performed a miracle by bringing forth a she-camel from solid rock.
Salih (AS) instructed them to leave the camel unharmed, but some people ignored Allah's command and killed it.
Despite receiving clear evidence, they continued in disbelief. Allah warned them to repent, but they refused. Soon after, a mighty earthquake and a terrible blast destroyed the disbelievers, while Salih (AS) and the believers were saved.
Lessons from Salih (AS)
Miracles benefit only those willing to believe.
Disobeying Allah after receiving clear guidance has serious consequences.
Gratitude and obedience lead to success.
CONCLUSION
The lives of Adam (AS), Idris (AS), Nuh (AS), Hud (AS), and Salih (AS) remind us that every prophet delivered the same essential message: Worship Allah alone and live according to His guidance.
Although they faced different challenges, they all showed remarkable patience, sincerity, and trust in Allah. Their stories continue to inspire Muslims to remain steadfast in faith and to seek Allah's mercy in every stage of life.
In Part 2, we will continue with the stories of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), Prophet Lut (AS), Prophet Ismail (AS), Prophet Ishaq (AS), and Prophet Yaqub (AS), exploring the timeless lessons they left for humanity.
