INTRODUCTION
Allah (SWT) sent prophets throughout history to guide humanity toward the worship of Him alone. Although they lived in different places and times, they all delivered the same message: believe in Allah, obey His commands, and live righteous lives.
In Part 1, we learned about Prophet Adam (AS), Idris (AS), Nuh (AS), Hud (AS), and Salih (AS). In this article, we continue with five more prophets whose lives are filled with lessons about faith, sacrifice, patience, and trust in Allah.
20. Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) (AS) – The Friend of Allah
Prophet Ibrahim (AS) is one of the greatest prophets in Islam. He was born among people who worshipped idols, including his own father, who made idols for a living.
From a young age, Ibrahim (AS) questioned why people worshipped statues that could neither help nor harm anyone. He called his people to worship Allah alone, but most rejected his message.
To demonstrate the falsehood of idol worship, Ibrahim (AS) destroyed the idols except for the largest one. When questioned, he told the people to ask the remaining idol who had destroyed the others. They realized the idols could not speak, yet many still refused to believe.
King Nimrod ordered Ibrahim (AS) to be thrown into a huge fire. By Allah's command, the fire became cool and safe, and Ibrahim (AS) emerged unharmed.
Later, Allah tested Ibrahim (AS) with many trials, including the command to sacrifice his beloved son. Ibrahim (AS) and his son willingly submitted to Allah's command, but before the sacrifice took place, Allah replaced his son with a ram as a reward for their obedience.
Ibrahim (AS), together with his son Ismail (AS), also rebuilt the Kaaba in Makkah, making it the center of worship for Muslims.
Lessons from Ibrahim (AS)
Worship Allah alone.
Trust Allah even during difficult tests.
True faith requires complete submission to Allah.
19. Prophet Lut (Lot) (AS) – Calling People to Righteousness
Prophet Lut (AS) was sent to the people of Sodom, who had become known for immoral behavior and openly committed sinful acts.
Lut (AS) patiently advised his people to repent and return to Allah. Despite his warnings, they refused to change their ways.
Allah eventually sent angels to rescue Lut (AS) and the believers before destroying the cities because of their persistent wrongdoing.
The Quran reminds believers that Allah is Just and that every community is accountable for its actions.
Lessons from Lut (AS)
Stand firmly for truth, even if others disagree.
Sin should never be accepted as normal.
Allah rewards those who remain faithful.
18. Prophet Ismail (Ishmael) (AS) – A Model of Obedience
Prophet Ismail (AS) was the son of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Lady Hajar.
One of the most inspiring moments in his life occurred when Ibrahim (AS) informed him of Allah's command to sacrifice him. Ismail (AS) responded with complete faith and told his father to do what Allah had commanded.
Before the sacrifice could happen, Allah replaced Ismail (AS) with a ram, demonstrating that the test had been passed.
Ismail (AS) later helped his father rebuild the Kaaba and became a prophet who guided his people toward the worship of Allah.
His story is remembered every year during Eid al-Adha.
Lessons from Ismail (AS)
Obey Allah with sincerity.
Respect and support your parents.
Patience brings great rewards.
17. Prophet Ishaq (Isaac) (AS) – A Blessed Prophet
Prophet Ishaq (AS) was the son of Ibrahim (AS) and Sarah.
Allah blessed Ibrahim and Sarah with Ishaq (AS) in their old age, demonstrating that nothing is impossible for Allah.
Ishaq (AS) continued his father's mission by teaching people to worship Allah alone and live according to His guidance.
Although the Quran mentions fewer details about his life than some other prophets, it praises him as one of Allah's righteous servants.
Lessons from Ishaq (AS)
Allah's promises always come true.
Never lose hope in Allah's mercy.
Continue the legacy of faith within your family.
16. Prophet Yaqub (Jacob) (AS) – The Example of Patience
Prophet Yaqub (AS), the son of Ishaq (AS), was blessed with twelve sons, including Prophet Yusuf (AS).
Yaqub loved Yusuf deeply, but this caused jealousy among Yusuf's brothers. They secretly threw Yusuf into a well and falsely told their father that a wolf had eaten him.
Although Yaqub (AS) was heartbroken, he never lost hope in Allah. He remained patient for many years and continued praying.
Eventually, Allah reunited Yaqub (AS) with Yusuf (AS), proving that patience and trust in Allah are always rewarded.
Lessons from Yaqub (AS)
Patience is one of the greatest qualities of a believer.
Never despair of Allah's mercy.
Trust Allah even when life becomes difficult.
CONCLUSION
The stories of Ibrahim (AS), Lut (AS), Ismail (AS), Ishaq (AS), and Yaqub (AS) teach us about faith, sacrifice, obedience, and patience. Each prophet faced unique challenges but remained steadfast in worshipping Allah and calling others to righteousness.
Their examples continue to guide Muslims today, reminding us that success lies in trusting Allah, obeying His commands, and remaining patient during life's trials.
