Prophet Ādam (عليه السلام) was the first human being and the first prophet created by Allah.
Allah created him from clay and breathed into him His spirit (Rūḥ), giving him life.
He was given knowledge of all things and taught the names of everything, which showed his superiority over the angels.
Allah commanded the angels to prostrate (sujūd) to Ādam as a sign of respect, not worship. All obeyed except Iblīs (Shayṭān), who was arrogant and refused, becoming an enemy to mankind.
They were allowed to enjoy everything in Paradise except one specific tree. Shayṭān whispered to them, and they disobeyed by eating from the tree.
As a result, Allah sent them down to earth. But Allah also forgave them after they repented.
Ādam became the first prophet on earth, guiding his children to worship Allah alone and live righteously.
He is known as the father of mankind (Abū al-Bashar).
