Who was the last prophet in Islam?

Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) is the last and final prophet of Allah.

He is described in the Qur’an as “Khatam an-Nabiyyīn” (Seal of the Prophets) – meaning no prophet will come after him. (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:40)

He was born in Makkah in the year 570 CE (known as the Year of the Elephant).

His parents were ‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Abd al-Muṭṭalib and Āminah bint Wahb.

He received his first revelation at the age of 40, through Angel Jibrīl (Gabriel) in the cave of Ḥirā’.

His mission lasted 23 years: 13 years in Makkah, and 10 years in Madinah.

His message was universal – unlike some earlier prophets who were sent only to their people, Muhammad ﷺ was sent to all of mankind and jinn.

He conveyed the Qur’an, which is the final and unaltered book of Allah.

His life (Sīrah) is a complete practical example of how a Muslim should live.

He passed away in Madinah in the year 632 CE and was buried in Al-Masjid an-Nabawī.
